The Yogi Golle ICT initiative is an ICT platform that seeks to provide young ICT enthusiasts with the necessary infrastructure for them to advance their skills and expertise in digital content development and other online related activities. The Hub facilitates the young ICT enthusiasts access to equipment and ICT infrastructure to enable them acquire digital skills that guarantee them access to digital and online freelance opportunities. The Hub will also play a key role in technology and knowledge transfer where ICT expert volunteers shall assist the ICT enthusiasts maneuver the intricate world of digital content creation and online freelance opportunities, creating employment opportunities for the youth.

  5. Distributed systems and network: A blockchain network is essentially a distributed system, which means that data is spread out across multiple nodes rather than being stored in a central location.
  6. Economic aspects: Blockchain technology has the potential to change the way value is exchanged in the economy
  7. Legal aspects: Blockchain technology is also changing the way we think about legal issues, such as property rights and contract law.

Having very basic information on Bitcoin and

Blockchain technology, I sought out to broaden my understanding. Thanks to Yogi Golle I.C.T Academy. I secured a sponsorship to study and gain extensive knowledge on Blockchain Technology at Ivan On Tech Academy. On my education journey I completed the following courses and also achieved certificates for the same:

·        Cryptography & Privacy Coins

·        Javascript Programming for Blockchain

·        Ethereum Smart Contract Programming 101

·        Ethereum Smart Contract Programming 201

 

With the gained knowledge, we worked with Yogi Golle through Ronnie Fund and Yogi Golle Initiative

to develop a Sky Miner. This was a project on Skycoin, which seeks to create a decentralized, peer-to- peer internet service in which users provide network services in exchange

for cryptocurrency. Africa has huge prospects and opportunities to tap into Blockchain Technology so that we can develop the much needed solutions.

I appeal for sponsorship to enable more students study these courses in preparation of the opportunities ahead, making us pioneers in this field in Africa.

After my extensive course, these are the next steps:

  • Building my own decentralized applications (dapps) on Ethereum, or other blockchain platforms
  • Learning more about other blockchain platforms such as EOS, Cosmos, or Polkadot to compare and contrast their features and use cases


  • Understanding more about blockchain scalability solutions such as sharding or off-chain scaling
  • Mastering a specific blockchain development framework like OpenZeppelin, Truffle, or Embark
  • Learn about and compare different consensus mechanisms like Proof of Stake, Proof of Authority, Delegated Proof of Stake, and so on
  • Study more about security practices in smart contract development to prevent common vulnerabilities and attacks
  • Learn about other cryptocurrency privacy features like ringCT and stealth addresses.
  • Learn more about the different security token standards like ERC-1400, and ERC-20 and how to use them in your dapp
  • Learn and understand decentralized finance (DeFi) and how it's been implemented on Ethereum
  • Learning about legal and compliance issues that are specific to blockchain-based companies and how to navigate them.
